Before:
Aparna Santosh Kachankar, aged 35, from Ghansoli Gaon, Ghansoli, Navi Mumbai, lives in a joint family of five members, including her in-laws and child. Though she completed her education up to 12th standard, her life was limited to household responsibilities. As a full-time housewife, she had no independent livelihood, no vocational skills, and no personal income, making her financially dependent on the family despite her constant hard work at home.

Intervention:
Aarine Foundation supported Aparna through counselling, motivation support, confidence-building sessions, skill development, and advanced tailoring training. She also received continuous mentoring and follow-up support, along with access to training materials, tailoring tools for practice, and advanced tailoring equipment during the training period.

Transformation:
Over 11 months of intervention, Aparna developed practical tailoring skills and began moving towards self-reliance. The training helped her gain confidence, strengthen her abilities, and see herself as someone capable of earning and building an identity beyond household work.

Current Status:
Aparna is now self-employed and works from home using her tailoring skills. She stitches blouses, petticoats, children’s dresses, does simple alterations, and basic embroidery work. She is gradually generating income of around ₹5,000 per month, which has improved her household stability and self-confidence.

Future Goal:
Aparna dreams of becoming fully self-reliant and starting her own tailoring class, using her skills to support her family and build a dignified identity of her own.
